Liplights Cream Lip Gloss (Babette)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] With dry, wrinkled lips, I wanted to give this gloss a try, with a bit of color. It's very emollient (and thick), but also quite tacky. And it transfers. I'm attaching a photo of my lips with no products on them, then one with Rhythm, which adds a bit of berry color. My biggest complaint is with the packaging. That's photo #3. It's an aluminum tube, and it took a good inch of gently squeezing until a bit of product appeared on the plastic nozzle. Given the price of this gloss and the impossibility of emptying the tube in any meaningful way, I'm disappointed. Apparently it used to be sold with a metal "key" to gradually crimp it up from the bottom, but RMS has since discontinued the key.

I have tried four of the lip lights now and the bare shade is definitely my favourite, it lasts so nice on my lips and is the perfect transparent touch of colour. I only have one complaint- the product just wants to keep squeezing out of the tube and it actually burst right through the cap… thought this might have been user error but none of the other three shades I own have done this - must be the slightly different formula of the bare being too pressurized? Not sure. Anyways, doesn’t impact the effectiveness, just leads to a bit of product waste and mess. What I would LOVE to see is these balms in a squeeze tube with an applicator, like the summer Friday’s butter balms or something, to avoid having to use my fingers or a brush :) (photos show broken cap from product trying to push out from being airlocked)

The lip balm is very moisturizing and stays on relatively well. The natural pH lip color looks beautiful on my lips for a natural, low-makeup appearance. I wore it on my overnight red-eye flight from Hawaii to California, and my lips looked beautiful the next morning. With that being said, I am so disappointed by the choice in tube cap. I don't understand why the company would want a little circle tab in the middle of the twist-off cap. Once the circle tab pops off, there is no way to snap it back in. Look at my photos...after it leaked inside my purse, I tried to replace the circle tab and then I wrapped it in tissue to prevent further spills...but look how it continued to leak out! Not only did it dirty my purse, but imagine the possible bacteria and dirt that can go into the balm. YUCK! I'm begging for RMS to redesign this lid because I am a true fan of the lip balm and would be a customer for life on this product alone.

The color and the texture of the Bisou Liplights is lovely, but the packaging makes it nearly impossible to use. If it’s a cool day, it is frozen in the tube. But if it’s a warm day, it comes gushing out, and it continues to come out even with the lid screwed into place, which results in a lot of wasted product. I have to clean out the cap and top of the container every time I use it because there is all this sticky debris. This is unhygienic!

I love this so much that it is the only lip product I now use. The color and emollient coverage is so perfect for me; I get loads of compliments. HOWEVER, one problem is with the tube. I have two of these, one in my purse makeup kit and one in makeup cabinet. Both have had the inset top within the cap pop out and spew out the gloss. They are usually just in a stationery position but both have popped the inner top out. I use them anyway, either with my finger or lip brush, but I can't travel with them for fear they will leak in my make up pouch. This seems to be a design/production problem.

After reading the reviews the packaging is the biggest issue. Flattened half the tube to get the first treatment. After that removed the slanted applicator and used my finger no waste just the amount I need. For my dry chapped lips the next morning smooth and comfortable. So yes I will continue to use as nothing else I've tried has worked.

I love the liplights and lipnights. Both are wonderful hydrating products. Rumor is my favorite shade by far. Mauvey rose on me. The only thing I don’t like is the caps on the liplights. Not sure if it’s from expansion of product or the threading on cap wears thru. Doesn’t happen with larger cap on lipnights.
